UKWCT student gets a distinction

vickIn the summer of 2007 Wolf Trust work experience student and volunteer Vicky Hughes completed her Foundation Degree in Animal Science and Management with a Distinction grade. Studying at Wiltshire College Lackham Vicky carried out a study into the seasonal variation in the appetite of captive wolves for her dissertation; using wolves at the UK Wolf Conservation Trust for her research. As well as achieving the highest possible grade for her Foundation Degree Vicky was also awarded the Stuart Walker Memorial Award for work in Animal Conservation; an award donated by the parents of a former Lackham student who, with a promising career in animal conservation ahead of him, unfortunately died in an accident just a few months into his first job at Cotswold wildlife park after completion of his studies.

Vicky is now topping up her Foundation Degree to a BSc (Hons) in Animal Science and Management through the Royal Agricultural College (Cirencester) and is this year conducting research into the use of medicinal herbs in self medication by captive wolves for her dissertation.

The UKWCT would like to congratulate Vicky for her brilliant achievement and we look forward to working with her in this next exciting project.
