Dakota update - January 2008
Dakota passed her routine vet check on 24th Jan 2008 with flying colours. The vet came to check her before prescribing more tablets which is standard practise. She has lost some weight which is good as she was getting a bit plump. Her lymph nodes (where the cancer is) if anything, are smaller than before. The tablets also seem to be controlling her spring allergy so her feet are not itchy and her eyes seem clear of inflammation. She continues to live happily with Kodiak and Duma and for now still seems to be showing no signs of pain or discomfort. She remains affectionate and friendly to handlers she has known for a long time and trusts but prefers not to be bothered with new people.
For now she continues to go on the woodland walk with her sister but does not do meet and greets anymore (just in case it is uncomfortable for her belly to be rubbed as the tablets make her abdomen slightly distended). When talking to the vets back in October they predicted she might not make Christmas but we are now near the end of January 2008 and she is still with us. Of course this could all change in the near future but for now she is very much a part of the pack and enjoying her semi-retirement.
