Dakota is 9 years old. Apart from losing about six inches of her tail as a result of her problems with Lunca, from the front most think she is a very photogenic wolf.

She has found that she is second string to her sister Duma, and is content to be so.
She was found to have a malignant tumour in her mammary tract. We believed that this had been successfully removed, but we discovered that in fact it had spread to her lymph nodes. Since then she has been on conventional and alternative medication. The Trust vet is a conventional vet but we are able, with his agreement, to consult a conventionally trained homeopthic vet. They met and examined Dakota and the treatment she is receiving is as agreed between them.

She is one of our main ambassadors, going to schools and on other visits to preach the word for wolf conservation. On photographic days she is famous for howling a wonderful song, allowing the photographers to get some really good shots. Dakota, her sister Duma along with Kodiak form ‘The North American Pack’.
